Files and FoldersA file is the what you call the basic unit of storage on a computer. Everything used on a computer is stored in a file, letters, programs, pictures, you name it. Disks are the little 3½ diskettes (that you can pop in and out), CD-ROMS, or hard drives. Hard drives are a little mysterious to most people because they are seldom, if ever, seen.
